Unified Messaging

Unified Messaging is a subset of Unified Communications, focuses on enabling users to access and process their entire message types from virtually any location using a wide variety of convenient devices (telephone, desktop PC, Internet and mobile device). The purpose of Unified Messaging is to optimize productivity and expand mobility capabilities by providing the flow of information to users faster.

CallXpress Unified allows desktop users to receive all incoming messages—e-mail and voice—in their e-mail inbox for easy handling. Voice messages appear as sound file attachments (.WAV) to an e-mail message, and can be played over the desktop speakers or the privacy of the telephone. Messages are played using the Windows Media Player or the CallXpress Media Player, which gives options to listen, pause, stop, fast forward and rewind the recording.

If you have questions or you would like to take advantage of this feature, please e-mail the OIT Customer Service Representative department at
