Dual Roles for University Employees and University Students

The information on this page only applies to users that are employees and also students of the University. 
If you are a University employee who is also a student, or if you are a student who is employed by the University, your email will function differently than those individuals who are just an employee or just a student. 

  • All students who are not employees will use to access their email account.
  • All employees of the University, even those who are also students, will use the on premises Microsoft Exchange email system
  • If you are a student and are hired by the University (such as teaching assistants), your account will automatically transition from to when your status is changed by the department that is employing you.  This will sometimes happen without the student knowing that their status has changed.
        • Once transitoned, the student will continue to have access to their student email account at to view and retrieve messages that reside in that account, although this account will not
  • Your email address will be
  • All emails sent to your will be delivered to your UNIVERSITY Exchange email account only.
  • You will still be able login to your LIVE@EDU account and use all the services offered such as SkyDrive, Messenger, as well as to view email messages that currently reside in that account.
        • However, you will not receive any emails nor will you be able to send any emails from your LIVE@EDU account.
        • To send and receive emails, please use your UNIVERSITY Exchange email account
