University Police

Event Services Offered

University policies require all buildings and facilities on the Anschutz Medical Campus remain locked after normal business hours (With some exceptions, normal business hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM).  Access to buildings and interior rooms, spaces, elevators, etc. controlled by the electronic security system for special events, conferences, etc., or temporary changes to a badge holder’s access must be coordinated through the Police Department’s Security Badging Office.  For additional information, please contact the Police Department at (303) 724-2000.

Access for event attendees can be accomplished in several ways; event organizers can assign a university staff member to the entrance of the building where the event is occurring to admit attendees.  The Police Department can assign a police officer or security guard to admit attendees at the beginning of the event, or assign a police officer or security guard to monitor building entrances for the duration of the event.  Please note: it is the responsibility of the event organizer to monitor/supervise caterers and vendors during their event.

Events involving the service of alcohol may require the presence of a police officer.  Decisions regarding whether or not a police officer is required are made based on the number of attendees, the location and time of the event, whether or not students are invited, and whether or not the event is opened/closed to the public.  For additional information or questions regarding whether or not an officers presence is required, please contact the Police Department at (303) 724-2000.

Events involving requests for officers to assist with traffic direction or street closures must be reviewed and approved by the University’s Traffic Committee.  For additional information, please contact the Police Department at (303) 724-2000.

Anytime a police officer or security guard is assigned to an event for more than 30 - 45 minutes there may be a charge associated for that service.
