Jim Do, Assistant Coordinator for Pipeline Programs in the Anschutz Medical Campus Office of Diversity and Inclusion presented a poster at the SACNAS (society of scientists dedicated to advancing Hispanics/Chicanos and Native Americans in science) National Conference in San Jose, October 27-30, 2011. The research poster he presented is titled: Introducing Health Disparities and Health Equity Research to Students Entering the Health Professions through an Interactive Webinar Module. He has collaborated with Dominic F. Martinez, MA and Lynne Bemis, Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus on this research.

Dominic F. Martinez, MA, Director of the Anschutz Medical Campus Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and Greg Johnson, Department Chair of the Religious Studies Program at University of Colorado Boulder presented papers on contemporary Native Hawaiian religious life at the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association annual meeting in Sacramento on May 20, 2011. Martinez's paper considers intersections of Hawaiian and Mormon traditions, especially as expressed in renewed canoeing practices. Johnson's paper explores cultural ramifications of the unfolding Kawaiaha`o Church controversy regarding burial protections in downtown Honolulu.
