Heidi Yen

UPP 2013-2014 Cohort

Heidi Yen is a junior at the University of Colorado Denver majoring in Biology and minoring in Multidisciplinary Research Methods. She is a student in the University Honors and Leadership program which has provided her opportunities such as volunteering with Project C.U.R.E. Heidi has spent time tutoring and working with children from refugee families that participate in Mercy Housing’s after school programs. She has also volunteered to teach English to elementary school students in rural areas located in the south of Taiwan. As someone who is passionate in her work with children, Heidi is interested in pursuing a career in pediatrics. With the desire to become a future member of the healthcare field, Heidi is excited to be a part of the Undergraduate Pre-Health Program because it provides a greater understanding of health disparities prevalent in underserved groups. She is also eager to gain exposure to the healthcare field and what it means to be a healthcare provider for underrepresented communities. Outside of the classroom, Heidi enjoys hiking and spending time with family and friends.
