Joo is a junior in college at University of Colorado Boulder pursuing a degree in Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology (MCDB) and he expects to graduate in 2015. With this degree Joo plans on attending medical school to pursue a degree in M.D. to be able to make a difference in healthcare as a healthcare provider. Joo has always had a passion for healthcare and also serving the minorities. Coming from a middle class minority family, Joo understands and has first person experience on things like health disparities and other things that make it extremely difficult for a low-income minority family to receive healthcare. Joo wants to give back to his community by becoming a healthcare provider that can understand things like culture, religion, race and provide more affordable healthcare so that he can provide the best affordable health care to those who are in need and also for anyone who needs healthcare so that he can contribute to making a healthier community anywhere he goes. Joo understands that the opportunity that’s given to him through UPP will serve as a big first step towards his career goals and will make the most out of all the exposures to healthcare fields. Even though Joo is currently pursuing his goals through internships and academics, he still loves to stay active through playing sports such as lacrosse, interacting with friends and family, and going to the mountains.
