Daisy Granillo is a junior pursuing a degree in Spanish and on the pre-med track at Regis University. She plans to attend medical school upon graduating in 2015 and is considering pediatrics. She is a first generation college student coming from an immigrant family. Daisy volunteers at the Denver Rescue Mission as a tutor for underrepresented homeless children, St. Rose of Lima school, and Father Woody’s Wheels. In her spare time she enjoys playing basketball, reading the newspaper, and working with children.
Daisy is greatly humbled by the opportunity to be part of UPP. This is a rare experience for undergraduates to be provided with. This summer, she will be an intern in a primary care clinic through the Kaiser Permanente track. She is excited to broaden her views on healthcare and disparities in the community. She hopes to gain valuable lessons and experiences that she will be able to put in practice one day.
