D’Andra Mixon-Walker is looking forward to continuing her studies at the University of Colorado Denver as a sophomore. Majoring in biology and minoring in psychology, she is eager to graduate in the year 2015 when she will continue her studies at the CU School of Medicine to ultimately become a physician. D’Andra is excited for the opportunity to be part of the UPP community and believes that the depth and breadth of exposure the program offers to the field of medicine will greatly enrich her understanding of different disciplines within the medical field. As a result, D’Andra hopes to better understand what it takes to become an excellent and well-rounded physician. She also anticipates that the program will help her be clearer about what area of medicine will provide her the best opportunity to make a positive impact to her community and thereby be most rewarding. D’Andra looks forward to the friendships she will build with her peers, knowing that everyone’s experiences and passion for medicine will ultimately make us all into excellent care-givers.
Other than spending time on the downtown campus, D’Andra enjoys reading, running and painting as a ways to relax. She has played tennis for many years and continues to play whenever possible. D’Andra plans to tutor students at her community middle and elementary schools.
