Michael Yang is currently a junior at the University of Colorado Boulder, studying biochemistry and molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. Aside from Michael’s dedication to academics, he is passionately involved in serving impoverished populations both abroad and in the local community. In March, he traveled to Honduras to bring medical attention to underserved rural families through the non-profit organization Global Medical Brigades; he will further his commitment to assist those in need in Belize and Panama this winter and spring. While in Boulder, Michael thrives outside the classroom by conducting and analyzing research at the Liu Biochemistry lab, where he investigates the effects of TGF-β signaling pathways on cellular proliferation and motility. Michael hopes to enter an MD/PhD program upon graduation, where he will pursue his combined interests of scientific research and the practice of medicine.
