With a clear mission to increase the academic progression rate of underrepresented/ethnic minority/disadvantaged students, the Office of Inclusion and Outreach at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus has coordinated and arranged a series of meeting with the key players from the programs involved (School of Medicine, School of Public Health, School of Dental Medicine, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, College of Nursing and School of Pharmacy) to assist with retention efforts by providing training materials, learning tools, professional speakers, sponsorship of multicultural events and presentation and by working with individual students or student groups by providing them with access to the President's Fund for Student Diversity.
Tutoring funds provided from the Office of Inclusion and Outreach for academic subjects have been made available on a structured basis per program. Under the direct supervision of key faculty member, student’s progress will be mentored and recorded. Each program will determine the best use of funds/tutoring support that is needed for their select group of students.
We also work closely with the Student Services Office, Colorado AHEC Offices, Aurora LIGHTS and the Disability Resources and Services Office to assure that student’s needs are met.
