Creating Futures

A personal legacy

Long-time faculty help “academic children”

Peter and Linda deLeon

With nearly six decades of combined service to the CU Denver School of Public Affairs, Peter and Linda deLeon might have felt they had done their part to support the university with path-breaking research, illuminating teaching, effective administration and superb mentoring of both faculty and students.

But they saw a way to do more.

“Since we did not have our own children,” says Linda deLeon, “we felt like we had academic children.” The deLeons have made a gift to their “academic children.”

Their bequest will profoundly impact the lives of graduate students, the work of the university and the field of public affairs; their commitment will raise the profile of the School of Public Affairs and the work it does for society; and their example will show others how to leave a meaningful legacy.
