The Maya Angelou event on Friday, October 21 has been CANCELED due to illness.
October 5, 2011
We have a great deal to look forward to with our first Homecoming celebration scheduled for the week of October 15-22. For the past several months, representatives from our campus community have worked hard to plan and coordinate a variety of events and engagement activities. I do hope that you take time to visit the Homecoming web page that outlines all that is planned and register to participate during this week of celebration.
While we have many exciting events in store for you, we are disappointed to let you know that our speaking engagement with Dr. Maya Angelou has been cancelled. We received notification that as a result of health concerns, Dr. Angelou, on the advice of her physicians, needed to cancel her appearance with us that was scheduled for Friday, October 21, at the Paramount Theatre.
While Dr. Angelou’s cancellation is disappointing, I am sure I speak for everyone at the university in wishing her well, and in welcoming her to speak at the university in the future..
As I mentioned, there are a number of exciting events happening the week of October 15-22 in our first-ever Homecoming celebration. To name a few:
Get caught up in the competitive spirit at Funny Field Day, October 21 on campus.
Enjoy CU Hockey Night and watch the CU Denver club hockey team take on the UCCS team on the Pepsi Center ice, then stick around for the Avs vs. the Blackhawks.
And join us for the hallmark event – the Homecoming BBQ Featuring Chris Daniels and the Kings. Enjoy great food, family fun and live music – FREE for current students with ID and children 17 and under, adults just $5.
And so much more. For more information on these and all of our homecoming events, please visit www.ucdenver.edu/homecoming. I look forward to seeing you all out as we celebrate our great campus community and our grand University. We have much to be proud of.
