CLAS Understands the Need for Inter-Connected Solutions

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers many programs in the study of Sustainability

The CU Denver College of Liberal Arts & Sciences has created the Minor in Sustainability to provide students with the cross-disciplinary knowledge and skills in this critically important area. The minor draws on the expertise and experience of an interdisciplinary faculty group working in a wide array of research that will help students develop a comprehensive base of knowledge and marketable skills.

This signature area recognizes sustainability as a significant economic, environmental, and social issue of the 21st century, with fundamental implications to the future of societies, economies, and the natural world. This signature area takes a systems approach to conceptualizing and implementing sustainable practices that integrate physical, biological, and social sciences. The Minor in Sustainability involves faculty and students from most departments within CLAS, including Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Communications, Economics, Geography and Environmental Sciences, Geology, History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Physics.
