If you are interested in counseling services, you may call the Center any time at 303-315-7270 or drop in to the Counseling Center: Tivoli 454 (Monday - Thursday from 10am-4pm or Friday from 10-2pm) to schedule an intake appointment.
After we gather some initial information we can schedule your intake at the center. Our intakes are an hour and a half long. The first half hour you will fill out forms on our computer and then you will meet with our intake counselor. Most intake counselors are students in the masters in counseling program. Intake sessions are supervised by a licensed clinician and potentially a treatment team behind a one way mirror. If you are a CU Denver student, and do not feel comfortable being observed, please let us know.
Please note: If you are more than 15 minutes late to your appointment we will need to reschedule.
An intake looks different than on going sessions. You will be asked asked a series of questions so we can assess your therapeutic needs. It is important for us to collect this information as we use it to determine if our counseling center will suit your needs.
You will receive a call from a counselor within a week after your intake. At this time, you can start counseling sessions or will be provided referrals if we cannot meet your needs.
We use a flexible, brief, strength based model and will support you for roughly 6-12 sessions.
