University of Colorado Denver Visual Arts and CU Denver Live! are hosting an IRON POUR II – a live demonstration of HEAVY METAL! For a second year, CU Denver's Sculpture program collaborates with renowned sculptor and iron performance artist Matt Toole, www.matttoole.com.
This event gathers the local Denver sculpture arts community, CU Denver students, and lovers of the iron pour spectacle with nationally renowned sculptor and iron performance artist Matthew Toole. Toole will not only direct the iron pour much like a conductor directs a symphony but will present a visual evolution of creation through destruction while watching solid iron melt into a new formation before your eyes. Campus activities includes making bonded sand molds to cast at the pour and audience participation in art-making by carving sand tiles which will be filled with hot iron, and finally, witness the live iron performance by Matt Toole.
