Special Education Endorsement

The Special Education Generalist endorsement is designed for currently licensed teachers seeking career advancement and the expertise needed to work effectively with students with special needs and from diverse backgrounds. The program is fully accredited by the Colorado Department of Education and the Council for Exceptional Children.

Nine graduate-level courses including a five credit internship complete the 26 credit hour program plan of study. All courses can be taken in either in a traditional on-campus format or online with the exception of internships (elementary & secondary level in special education) which can be completed on the job or through our professional development schools.

This program is perfect if you are:

  • A licensed Colorado teacher who wants the training and knowledge to serve students with disabilities.
  • Already in possession of a Colorado general education license and wish to build on that expertise.
  • Looking to improve your ability to meet the needs of all learners.

Many of our students go on to complete an optional Master's Degree in Special Education which only requires four additional classes.
