Learn about a gift that resonates far beyond the University of Colorado's campuses.
The Bolanos Foundation has given the Center for Global Health $1 million to build a clinic, research lab, housing complex and conference center on 10 acres of their banana plantation's property. The complex will serve the health needs of the workers and those of the surrounding communities in the trifinio (southwest) region of Guatemala. Center for Global Health Fund
The health of people and communities around the world will require strong partnerships and dedication to improving health equity and access to care. Consider supporting this noble cause through the Center for Global Health.
Calvin L. Wilson Scholarship for Future Leaders in Global Health
Dr. Wilson, a physician whose career spans countries and cultures, served as director of the Center for Global Health from 2004 through 2010. The model and leadership of Calvin L Wilson, MD, has inspired this scholarship so that students from the University of Colorado and international students have an opportunity to engage in a culturally diverse clinical and/or research experience during their graduate training. Philosophically, this scholarship is grounded in a deep commitment to the long-lasting, positive value of international health care as it relates to broadening personal and academic perspectives. We are honored to be able to offer you the opportunity of this program scholarship.
Ways to Give
Making your contribution, leaving your legacy or leveraging the contributions of fellow friends and donors can be as unique as your intention. Whether you make a gift in memory of a former professor, in honor of a renowned researcher, or in hopes of the future work of our students, you can make your gift in a number of ways.
As an alumnus/a, faculty, staff or friend, you can make a meaningful contribution to global health through an annual gift. Annual gifts are made in any amount and can support the Center for Global Health, Calvin L. Wilson Scholarship for Future Leaders in Global Health, Guatemala Trifinio Project fund, or another one of our current funds. Annual gifts, like other charitable contributions may qualify you for tax deduction.
If you are considering a way to make a lasting contribution to global health, consider an endowment. Your gift acts as an investment. The principal is professionally managed by the University of Colorado Foundation, with an amount of the annual interest set aside for program funding. Donors can give gifts to current endowments or may speak with a development officer about establishing a new endowment. Supporting global health through an endowment is the perfect way to ensure the intention and impact of your gift will last for years to come.
Making a gift to the Center for Global Health can be a one time commitment or a pledge to make multiple commitments toward a single amount. Donors pledge their gift amount then make payments over a series of months or years. By making a pledge, you extend the reach of your gift from this year to the next.
If you want to leave your legacy through a planned gift, please visit the University of Colorado Foundation planned giving website. The Foundation offers you tools to create a plan, tips on tax and finance matters, donor stories and contact information for the Foundation’s planned giving officers.
Give to an Established Fund
If your intention is to support an existing program or cause, consider making a contribution to an existing fund or endowment. Doing so will leverage your gift with the power of other donors who share your passion and intention. This is the perfect way to illustrate the power of collaboration and coordination, something our school is well known for in academic and research programming.
