What is the Colorado University Student Nurses Association (CUSNA)?
We are the CU branch of the National Student Nurses Association. We are led by nursing students from the University of Colorado at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Together we prepare and support nursing students for their academic success, careers and futures.
Meeting once a month, we are able to set up guest speakers for our Pathways to Nursing Series that provides students an inside look into nursing specialties like emergency room, surgical, operating room, public health nursing and pediatrics. We also have lectures and presentations from recruiters and hiring managers to provide information on career opportunities.
The CUSNA members, and past senior students, including collaborations from instructors and program directors have complied resources and created a Student and Career Resource Guide. The resource guide includes information from clinicals to creating resumes and portfolios including listings of more than 500 health care facilities. It is a great resource guide that can be used by both junior and senior nursing students. In addition, we invite speakers to share information about Doctors Without Borders, nursing research and graduate programs. Not to mention our volunteer opportunities, NCLEX study sessions, ice cream socials ...and the list goes on! Added benefits for board members include better recognition with instructors, sitting on committees, participation in NSNA conventions, discounts to nursing associations and publications, scholarships through NSNA, camaraderie, career building, student involvement and leadership opportunities.
