The education department at Assistive Technology Partners provides numerous educational opportunities for families and persons with disabilities, professionals, students, educators, and others interested in learning about assistive technology devices and services. Educational activities include college courses, professional development and community events.
Assistive Technology Partners delivers over 200 training activities each year serving approximately 5000 people. These activities include in-services, presentations, events, graduate, and customized activities. ATP also invites the consumer and their families to learn about and experience assistive technology by hosting device demonstrations that are presented free of charge.
Future education plans include expansion of the amount, type, and quality of training delivered, including the development of a state-of-the-art assistive technology training facility with distance training capabilities to reach a broader audience. Assistive Technology Partners is also working to develop curriculum for a Master’s and Ph.D. program in assistive technology.
