Surgeons affiliated with the Department of Surgery at the CU School of Medicine provide trauma and acute-care services at three different locations:
University of Colorado Hospital is a tertiary care facility
with over 550 beds, 24,000 admissions and 7,000 inpatient surgeries a
year. University Hospital houses a Level II trauma center and separate intensive-care units for surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and burn/trauma.
Children’s Hospital Colorado is the state’s Level I pediatric trauma center, with over 4,000 inpatient operations per year and 13,000 admissions annually.
Denver Health Medical Center is the region’s academic Level I trauma center, the Rocky Mountain Regional Level II pediatric trauma
center, and the safety-net hospital for Denver. Denver Health admits over 2,500 trauma patients per year and performs 11,000 operative cases per year.
