Abdominal Imaging Fellowship

The Abdominal Imaging Fellowship program at the University of Colorado Denver offers advanced training in body computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound. The aim of the fellowship program is to provide supervised but progressively independent responsibilities to effectively train subspecialty radiologists with a high level of expertise in abdominal imaging.

The Abdominal Imaging Fellowship provides exposure to high volume of inpatient, outpatient and emergency US, CT and MRI exams. The wide spectrum of imaging include general abdominal US, OB-GYN US, arterial and venous vascular Doppler, fetal Doppler, scrotal US, pre and post transplant (liver, renal and pancreas) imaging, CT and MRI for cancer staging and monitoring. MR imaging are performed on 1.5 T and 3T scanner. MR exams include liver, pancreas, MRCP, renal, adrenal, MRA, appendix, female pelvis, placental anomaly, fetal MRI and endo-rectal 3T prostate MRI. Since the program focus is on abdominal imaging, some GI and GU fluoroscopy may be included in the fellowship program. US guided FNA biopsy of thyroid nodule and neck lymph-nodes are also performed by Abdominal Imaging group.

Participation in multidisciplinary conferences (mixed GI tumor board, second-opinion urology oncology, gynecology-pathology, hepato-biliary, thyroid-parathyroid) is integral part of fellowship training. Fellows are expected to participate in resident and medical student education. There are opportunities to participate in on-going research projects that may result in scientific publications.

  • The program is non-ACGME and does not participate in the National Resident Matching Program.

  • Each fellow must have a Colorado State Medical License prior to beginning the fellowship.

  • Each fellow will be appointed at the instructor level.

  • Salary is competitive. Benefits include 15 days of vacation and 5 days of meeting time.
