School of Medicine Departments

The School of Medicine added a 26th department to its roster this year when the Board of Regents designated Emergency Medicine as a stand-alone unit. Formerly a division of the Department of Surgery, Emergency Medicine became the latest entry in a list of nationallly recognized programs under the school's banner.
U.S. News & World Report 2010 rankings listed the Department of Family Medicine third best in the country, Primary Care fourth and the Department of Pediatrics eighth. MedSchool100.com ranked our school as the 11th Best Primary Care School in the country.  
The school's departments represent the main academic, clinical and research interests of the school.
