Part of the National Network of Depression Centers, the University of Colorado Depression Center is a nationally recognized center of excellence committed to improving the lives of people with depression and mood disorders through clinical excellence, innovative research, community programs and education.The Depression Center was started in 2008 with the generous support of George Wiegers of Vail, Colorado. Inspired by the vision to create a national network of Depression Centers, Wiegers saw an opportunity to bring a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary disciplinary depression facility to Colorado.
Mr. Wiegers approached Dr. Robert Freedman, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado with his vision for establishing the center, and through their partnership, the Depression Center was opened at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.The Depression Center is supported through the University of Colorado and the Institute for Depression Studies and Treatment.The Center relies on the generous support of individuals and organizations for much of the work we do.
