The Department of Pediatrics Section of Pulmonology provides clinical services at Children's Hospital ColoradoNational Jewish Health, and at outreach clinics in Colorado and Montana. 

As a national referral center, we are dedicated to providing professional education at all levels and are committed to advancing knowledge through our comprehensive research programs.

HIGHLIGHTS & NEWS

  • After more than 50 years of medical service and serving in various settings in the Department of Pediatrics (the last 7 years being in the Section of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine/The Breathing Institute), James Shira, MD, will be retiring.

  • Bridget Raleigh, FNP-BC, and Melanie Gleason, PA-C, received the Senior Instructor with Distinction Award at the State of the Pediatric Department.

  • The Breathing Institute​ awarded its inaugural Breathe Better Project Awards to Ann Halbower, MD, A quality improvement project to role model safe sleep at Children’s Hospital Colorado, Andy Liu, MD, myAIRE: Health Apps to Control Environmental Triggers of Asthma, Stacey Simon, PhD, My Dreams are Still Awake: Breathing Better with Narcolepsy, and Stan Szefler, MD, Standardizing Lung Development Trajectories for Asthma Management in Children.

  • Livia Veress, MD, received an additional BARDA​ contract, for $2 million dollars, as Phase II (Option Period 2) of her original BARDA contract.

  • Stacey Simon, MD, had her application selected for the Center for Women’s Health Research​ K12.

  • Heather Hoch, MD, was elected to a two-year term on the Colorado Department of Public and Environment’s Cancer, Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Disease Grants Program Review Committee​.
