The Department of Pediatrics Section of Pulmonology provides clinical services at Children's Hospital ColoradoNational Jewish Health, and at outreach clinics in Colorado and Montana. 

As a national referral center, we are dedicated to providing professional education at all levels and are committed to advancing knowledge through our comprehensive research programs.

Research among our faculty examines the causes and treatments of a wide range of pediatric pulmonary disorders.


  • Dr. Ann Halbower co-authored a paper entitled, “A Lightweight and Inexpensive In-ear Sensing System for Automatic Whole-night Sleep Stage Monitoring​,” that was awarded Best Paper at the SenSys '16: Proceedings of the 14th ACM Conference on Embedded Network Sensor Systems, in November 2016.

  • The fall issue of CU Medicine Today​ features Frank Accurso, MD, whose career was dedicated to improving the lives of people with cystic fibrosis (please see email attachment).

  • Investigators at the University of Colorado Denver, Pediatric Airway Research Center,​ have received a new multi-center grant from the National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences for ‘Development of Antidotes for Toxic Gases.’ The Denver-based teams are headed by Drs. Carl White and Livia Veress, and include two separate projects. The total award ($16.4 million) will support this work through 2021.

  • Dr. Robin Deterding has been awarded a Career Teaching Scholar Award for 2016 by the Department of Pediatrics, CU SOM.
