The Department of Pediatrics Section of Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation provides clinical services for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and non-malignant blood disorders at Children's Hospital Colorado Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD).

The CCBD occupies the entire 7th floor of the 294-bed Children’s Hospital Colorado and is divided into several distinct programs

HIGHLIGHTS & NEWS

  • Drs. Foreman and Reaves have won (both for the 2nd time) the PRC National Excellence in Health Care 5-Star Excellence Award from the Children's Hospital Colorado.
  • Dr. Douglas Graham and Susan Sather (Senior PRA in the Graham lab) has been awarded a patent for a method of treating cancer by inhibiting the Axl receptor tyrosine kinase, which is known to be overexpressed in tumor cells.
  • Dr. Joanne Hilden has been named President of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (ASPHO).
  • The National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) recently announced this year’s NSGC Leadership Award Winners, and among the six recipients is Kami Schneider, MS, CGC, who received one of the two Outstanding Volunteer awards for exceptional contribution and volunteerism to NSGC.
  • Congratulations to Dr. Kathrin Bernt on receiving a Clinical Scientist Development Award from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
  • Dr. Lia Gore received the Robert J. and Kathleen A. Clark Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cancer Therapeutics
