The Department of Pediatrics Section of Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation provides clinical services for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and non-malignant blood disorders at Children's Hospital Colorado Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD).

The CCBD occupies the entire 7th floor of the 294-bed Children’s Hospital Colorado and is divided into several distinct programs 

We offer a variety of educational programs including a Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology

The CCBD includes 26 faculty members with a variety of interests in clinical, translational, and laboratory research


  • Congratulations to Dr. Kathrin Bernt on receiving a Clinical Scientist Development Award from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. Kathrin is one of 17 researchers nationally to receive the honor this year. Her lab is investigating the role of epigenetic gene regulation in normal hematopoietic stem cells and extending her findings to the study of leukemia.
  • Dr. Lia Gore received the Robert J. and Kathleen A. Clark Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cancer Therapeutics
  • Dr. Kelly Maloney received the Children's-Based Oustanding Service Award from the Children's Hospital Colorado Medical Staff.
  • At the 2013 meeting of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Dr. Jorge DiPaola was awarded the Frank A Oski Lectureship.
  • Dr. Roger H. Giller named Barton Family Chair in Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Drs. Taru and Bill Hays have endowed a new fellowship: The Taru Hays Fellowship in Clinical Hematology.
