The Department of Pediatrics Section of Epidemiology manages infection prevention and microbial epidemiology at Children's Hospital Colorado.  Our mission is to employ analytical epidemiology techniques in both academic and clinical environments to improve health care within hospital and community populations.

  • The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Committee​ has named Chris Nyquist, MD, to a one-year term as a member on the committee on the Use of Elastomeric Respirators in Health Care.

  • Science Daily: Making Flu Vaccinations Mandatory for Healthcare Workers Reduces Absenteeism. A multi-institutional study published in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology showed that mandatory flu vaccines for healthcare workers improved vaccination rates, reduced absenteeism during critical periods and had an overall reduction of missed days at work compared to non-vaccinated healthcare workers. Chris Nyquist, MD, MPH/MSPH, medical director of Infection Prevention and Control, is quoted. Read the March 9 article​.
