The Department of Otolaryngology's mission is to provide outstanding, cutting-edge clinical care, research, and state-of-the-art training. The Department is affiliated with five hospitals; University of Colorado Hospital, Children's Hospital Colorado, the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Denver Health & National Jewish. Our group of highly trained otolaryngology-head & neck surgeons offer a full range of adult and children's patient services.

The Anschutz Medical Campus is the nation’s newest health care campus fostering collaboration among students, researchers and clinicians. Campus architecture and state-of-the-art technology bridge education and research with two world-class hospitals: University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado.  The Anschutz Medical Campus includes over 5 million square feet of research, educational and clinical space on 227 acres, and is the largest academic health center between Chicago, Texas and the West Coast.

School of Medicine researchers have a proven record of success and expertise in innovation, discovery and commercialization of therapies, drugs and medical devices. With a reputation for delivering results, its 2,000 outstanding faculty members have already begun translating basic sciences into medical breakthroughs that are helping people around the world.  In 2013, nearly $400 million in research and training grants and contracts was awarded to Anschutz Medical Campus researchers.

 

Current Positions

 

 

Chief of Otolaryngology Service: 

The Department of Veteran Affairs is seeking a full-time Chief of Otolaryngology Service at the Denver VA Medical Center, a Dean's Committee Hospital, located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. This position will guide the service through a move to a new, state-of-the-art VA facility, oversee all otolaryngology services at the VA center and maintain a strong teaching relationship with the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Otolaryngology residents and medical students rotate through the VA Medical Center. 

Clinical and administrative experience with interests in clinical, translational or outcomes research is preferred.

Director of Research: 

The Department of Otolaryngology is seeking applicants for a Director of Research. This position will develop the core basic and translational sciences program in the department and is expected to take a lead role with recruitment, supervision and mentorship of all basic and clinician scientists and research staff. In addition, the Director of Research will be responsible for expanding research opportunities and collaborations within the school, and heightening the profile of the department's research standing on a national basis. Required education/qualifications: MD or PhD; minimum of five years of relevant research experience.

Director of Audiology: 

The Department of Otolaryngology is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Audiology. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. This senior leadership position will be responsible for clinical, educational, research and administrative oversight of the Audiology Department at the University of Colorado Hospital and its satellite facilities and the development of these programs within the Otolaryngology Department in the School of Medicine. This position will be responsible for expanding educational and research opportunities on-campus, community collaboration, and continuing improvements in the patient experience and clinical flow. Required education/qualifications: PhD in Audiology; three or more years of management experience; five or more years of clinical and research experience.

Professional Research Assistant: 

The position will serve as a member of Department of Otolaryngology Professional Research Assistant team as an expert in research regulatory and compliance matters. This position will assist researchers and other Professional Research Assistants to conduct sound research in compliance with the appropriate regulations, guidance, and policies. This position has an opportunity to build new efficient processes for the Department. In addition, this position is empowered to be innovative and make decisions that would significantly benefit the Department's research mission through development of a clinical research team and applicable policies and processes. Required education/qualifications: BA/BS in a science field (preferably in biological sciences); three years of direct clinical research experience, five if substituting for education requirement.
