We have administered a full-time Office of Medical Student Affairs since 1995. This office coordinates all medical student activities for the Department of Medicine and provides career counseling. The Division sponsors a medical student Internal Medicine Interest Group.
We have 36 primary care housestaff in our program (12 per year). Our primary care housestaff training program is closely integrated with the Department of Medicine's categorical training program. A Division member is Associate Director of the Department of Medicine's Categorical Housestaff Training Program. We have developed a unique educational program for our primary care housestaff that incorporates many areas not traditionally taught in most medical educational programs. We also have a Primary Care Fellowship Program and additional opportunities for housestaff to pursue either a MPH or a PhD degree should they so desire.
Our faculty from all sites meets at a weekly educational conference and many attend bi-weekly research conferences. We have a successful, well-developed faculty Development Fellowship Program.
