About the University of Colorado Cancer Center

Colorado's only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center

The University of Colorado Cancer Center is Colorado's only National Cancer Institute-designated consortium comprehensive cancer center.

The center is a consortium of three state universities, including the University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Colorado State University, and three institutions: University of Colorado Health, a network comprised of University of Colorado Hospital, Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies and Memorial Hospital, Children’s Hospital Colorado and Denver VA Medical Center.

University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) is the primary adult teaching hospital and where the majority of CU Cancer Center clinical care is delivered and clinical research is conducted. University Health System Consortium named UCH the #1 academic medical center in quality in the nation in 2011, 2012 and 2013. U.S. News & World Report ranks University of Colorado Cancer Center 15th in the nation and named UCH the best hospital in Colorado in 2014.

Children’s Hospital Colorado, where pediatric cancer care takes place, is acknowledged as one of the nation's top 10 children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.  Children's Colorado is also recognized, nationally and internationally, for medical, research, education and advocacy programs.

In 2013, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) elected the CU Cancer Center as a member institution. As part of NCCN, CU Cancer Center's researchers contribute their expertise and ideas to the organization's national and international initiatives in patient care and research.

CU Cancer Center also is a member of the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN), a unique research partnership among North America’s top cancer centers leveraging multiple data sources and matching patients to targeted treatments.

We are committed to transforming cancer research and practice in the state of Colorado by creating an integrated interdisciplinary nexus of clinicians and scientists across our statewide consortium that can leverage, synergize, marshal and focus resources and expertise to discover new ways to prevent and treat cancer.
