The International Student Program offers qualified graduates of foreign dental programs the opportunity to earn the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Graduates of this two-year accelerated DDS program may take any state or regional board, and thus are eligible for licensure and practice within the United States.
This two-year accelerated program has application requirements separate from the Doctor of Dental Surgery program. The first class of 12 students graduated in December 2006; the program has grown and now there are 40 students enrolled. While the minimum program length is 24 months, in some cases the program may be longer in order to meet an individual's educational needs. The program consists of didactic courses supported by some on-line resources, preclinical simulated courses provided within the School of Dental Medicine and clinical courses involving direct patient care in the School's clinics and community-based urban and rural public health clinics.
