Department of Music & Entertainment Industry Studies
The Department of Music and Entertainment Industry Studies (MEIS) offers several degree programs intended to prepare students for a variety of careers in the arts and entertainment industry. Students can choose between two main tracks: *Performance Based Studies and non-performance based. The former requires an audition (noted with “*”), and with a strong emphasis in music performance, students emphasize in Music Performance, Music Business, Singer/Songwriter, or Recording Arts.
Please note: Admission to the Music major is competitive for both freshmen and transfer students.
Admissions to the Music and Entertainment Industry Studies Program:
A student wishing to study in the Music Business program must be admitted as both a student of the University of Colorado Denver, and as a student of the College of Arts & Media. Admission into the College of Arts & Media is selective, and based on several factors including previous academic records, standardized test scores, and audition performance. All entering freshman and transfer students applying for admission to the Music Business program must complete an additional audition.
Students who wish to transfer to the College of Arts & Media from another college or school at the University of Colorado Denver must formally apply to the College of Arts & Media. Students will be considered for admission on either their overall GPA in applicable coursework from CU and all previous institutions, or on their last 15 credit hours. Applicants with less than a 2.0 GPA in related courses (from CU or other institutions) and an overall CU GPA of less than 2.0 will be denied admission even though they may meet other requirements for consideration.

Department Of Theatre, Film, And Video Production
The Department of Theatre, Film, & Video Production offers students the opportunity to become knowledgeable about working in both Theatre and Film while delving into their special area of interest. Faculty work with students to develop their artistic abilities and technical skills.
Department of Visual Arts
The Department of Visual Arts provides an educational environment where artists and art historians of promise and motivation can explore the horizons of their own talents in the midst of intense critical dialogue. The primary educational experience for the student is centered on the knowledge and skills gained from rigorous and structured courses offered by the various areas of the Visual Arts Department, as well as the rich academic offerings throughout the university. The Visual Arts Department’s efforts are devoted not only to the refinement of visual skills, but to the articulation and cultivation of the mind.
