Genia Larson is the Assistant Vice Chancellor, University Advancement and Student Engagement for the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus. In this role, she leads the university’s strategic advancement efforts related to planning, managing and executing university outreach and events. She works closely with university leadership, local community, industry partners and the leadership of the 13 schools and colleges located on the Denver and Anschutz Medical Campuses to provide university-wide programs and events that create collaboration among campus constituencies and external industry and government interests. Genia also serves as the executive leader for the Office of Alumni Relations for the Denver campus. She plays a critical role in connecting the alumni to the university and in advancing the strategic initiatives, mission and interests of the campus community and the university.
Larson has extensive experience in strategic planning, event operations and execution, cause marketing, community relations and development. Genia attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Upon graduation, Genia joined the Sports and Entertainment division of ARAMARK Corporation which returned her to her home state of Colorado with the Colorado Rockies. She left ARAMARK Corporation in 2005 as the Regional Premium Services Director overseeing accounts within the Denver market that included Coors Field, The Pepsi Center and Red Rocks. Genia was a consultant for several business and non-profit industry leaders within Colorado and nationally until she accepted a position as the Events and Corporate Relations Officer with The Kempe Foundation for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect, an affiliate of the University of Colorado and Children’s Hospital of Colorado.
Genia enjoys her involvement within the community. She has served on several boards and committees including the ROY Foundation, CultureHaus, Impact Denver, Chamber 100, Denver Panhellenic, YNPN, Cole Neighborhood Association, PEAK, Girl Scouts of Colorado, Five Points Business District and was a founding member of the young professional group, Kempe Champs. Genia has been recognized as a Denver Business Journal Outstanding Woman in Business, nominee and ICON Award recipient for Best Event Produced for Association or Corporation. Her proudest accomplishment, however, is being a mom to her seven-year-old daughter who thrives as a student within the Denver Public School system. Genia and her daughter reside in the Five Points community.
