 Transcend Auraria

The purpose of this Social Justice Retreat at the Auraria campus is to create a safe space for students of all backgrounds to deepen their exploration and understanding of issues related to diversity, inclusion, identity, power, privilege, and oppression. Given the context of several national, regional, and local events that have impacted our campus community, this retreat would provide a space for students to engage in conversations across differences in a deep and intentional way. Currently many conversations at Auraria are happening in isolated pockets in a variety of areas on campus, many of which are led by students. This tri-institutional experience would allow for students to engage in a shared experience that would provide them with an opprotunity for deep dialouge, reflection, and learning.

 Rosa Parks Diversity Awards

Sparking the modern civil rights movement in the United States by refusing to give up her bus seat, Rosa Parks' arrest for breaking Montgomery segregation laws started a boycott of the city bus line that lasted for 381 days. This eventually led to the 1956 Supreme Court ruling declaring segregation illegal on public buses. In the spirit of Rosa Parks, the University of Colorado Denver Rosa Parks Diversity Committee has selected you as a Student recipient for the University of Colorado Denver Rosa Parks Diversity Reward. All recipients will be honored at the Rosa Parks Diversity Luncheon.
